On behalf of the Board of Trustees and Franklinville’s residents I would like to extend to you a warm welcome to our Village.
Established in 1806, Franklinville has an illustrious history and was formerly the place to visit; boasting two theaters, several restaurants and local shops. Our residents came from several backgrounds including farmers, factory employees, business people and educators. We continue to be home to a diverse population and look forward to continuing that tradition. Our residents are known for their friendliness, welcoming, and helpfulness. Community spirit and inclusiveness are hallmarks of the Village.
Residents receive Village services including water, sewage disposal, garbage pickup, and street maintenance. Seasonal services such as leaf pickup, snow plowing, winter sidewalk clearing and brush removal are also provided. The Village police department is a deterrent for crime and enforces our laws enhancing the safety and health & welfare of our residents. Franklinville School District provides educational resources that include traditional 3R studies for students grades K – 12. Additionally, BOCES’ curriculums are easily accessed and service clubs provide the social aspect of a well-rounded education.
Village offices are open from 9am to 4pm, Monday thru Friday. The Mayor is available to discuss any resident’s concerns Friday mornings from 9am to 10:30am. If a more convenient time is required, please call the office at (716) 676-3010 to make arrangements. The website will be one of our lines of communication and will be updated weekly. The Board and I are committed to informing residents of current happenings in the Village and encourage all our organizations to provide us with their calendar of events. Improving communications will improve quality of life and encourage greater participation in upcoming events.
Our Village has a Mayor – Trustee form of government. Four trustees are elected for staggered four-year terms. The Board’s function is primarily legislative, while a full-time Mayor serves as the Village’s Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for administrative functions. We encourage participation and look forward to working with our residents to improve the community’s quality of life.
Once again, welcome to the Village of Franklinville. Please visit the Village office where you will find “welcome brochures” that provide information regarding businesses, churches and current events.
